While UniSource Energy Services has long supported Arizona Gives Day, our company this year is committing extra dollars to help support charities during the campaign in light of the growing needs during the coronavirus pandemic.

Arizona Gives Day on April 7 is an annual campaign that allows donors across the state to support their favorite charities.

UniSource Energy Services and its sister company, Tucson Electric Power, committed an additional $10,000 this year from funds that would otherwise be forwarded to shareholders to help waive payment processing fees for nonprofits. Arizona Gives Day set up a Nonprofit Emergency Relief Fund specifically for charities that are losing money because of COVID-19 concerns.

“Arizona Gives Day is the perfect opportunity for our company to support nonprofits, which are now facing significant strain to their capacity and resources,” said Wendy Erica Werden, Manager of Community Investment and Philanthropy.

As a member of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, our company provides logistical support for Arizona Gives Day and financial contributions help fund prizes for contests as a sponsor.

It’s not too late, either, to claim charitable tax credits on your state income taxes. Arizona taxpayers can get $400 for a single taxpayer and up to $800 for joint taxpayers for qualifying organizations.

To claim an Arizona tax credit for 2019 taxes, donations must be made by April 15 to qualified charitable, school and tuition organizations, even though the filing deadline has been extended to July 15. Learn more about state tax credits.

Since starting in 2013, Arizona Gives Day has raised more than $17 million for nonprofit organizations. Make a donation.
