Our 2023 Integrated Resource Plan

Taking Control of Our Energy Future

UniSource Energy Services plans to more than double its electric energy resources over the next 15 years with new wind, solar, natural gas and storage systems that can support continued reliability amid increasing resource constraints on the regional electric grid.

UniSource’s 2023 IRP outlines a balanced, flexible plan for establishing greater independence and energy security for customers while preserving affordability and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.

New resources are needed to support projected growth and reduce reliance on wholesale power purchased from other providers. Reliable energy is becoming increasingly unavailable in the desert Southwest during extreme summer heat, requiring UniSource to develop its own dedicated resources to ensure continued service when customers most need it.

All-Source Request for Proposals

Building on our commitment to meet customers’ energy needs reliably while expanding our clean energy resources, UniSource is evaluating options to add energy, capacity and renewable systems to the company’s portfolio. UniSource and its sister company, Tucson Electric Power, issued an all-source request for proposals (ASRFP) in April 2022, seeking new wind and solar generation, energy storage systems and other resources.
