UniSource Energy Services electric customers can receive a $200 rebate for the purchase of an energy efficient variable-speed pool pump from a qualified pool professional.

Variable-speed pumps can help customers save money while reducing their impact on the environment. Variable-speed pumps last longer than regular pool pumps because they can be programmed to operate at high speed only when necessary.

“Regular pool pumps can add hundreds of dollars to your electric bill every year. This program appeals to customers because efficient pumps help to lower electric bills while improving pool water quality,” Program Manager Jessica Vega said.

With proper calibration, variable-speed pumps can reduce energy use by 70 percent and save users more than $340 a year in energy costs.

To obtain the rebate, customers simply need to present an electric bill to a company-qualified pool professional, who will apply the rebate as a discount to the sale price of an ENERGY STAR®-qualified pool pump. Pool professionals will work with customers to install and calibrate pumps to maximize energy savings.
