System Reliability Benefit (SRB)
What is the System Reliability Benefit (SRB)?
The System Reliability Benefit (SRB) mechanism is designed to help recover costs related to the development of new energy resources needed to serve our communities’ growing energy needs. The SRB could be used to seek recovery for investments in resources already providing service to electric customers between applications for new rates and not already recovered in base rates or through another mechanism approved by the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC).
Recover through the SRB would be limited to investments of $25 million or more that were selected through competitive all-source requests for proposals. If no such investments are made, the charge will not be applied to customers' bills.
The ACC authorized the SRB in January 2024.
How does the SRB appear on customer bills?
This charge, currently set to $0.00 per kilowatt hour, does not yet appear on bills but could in the future with regulatory approval.
