UniSource Energy Services’ daily operations are supervised by local managers who are committed to providing safe, reliable service to their communities. Electric service is provided through a UES subsidiary called UNS Electric, Inc., while natural gas service is provided through a subsidiary called UNS Gas, Inc. These local efforts are overseen and supported by executives at UES’ Tucson-based parent company, UNS Energy Corporation, and sister company Tucson Electric Power (TEP).

David G. Hutchens
Chief Executive Officer
David Hutchens is President and Chief Executive Officer of Tucson Electric Power, sister company UniSource Energy Services and their parent holding company, UNS Energy Corporation.
David joined UNS Energy in 1995, advancing through various management positions that included oversight of wholesale energy trading and marketing. In 2007, he was named Vice President of Wholesale Energy and UNS Gas, an operating subsidiary of UniSource.
David became Vice President of Energy Efficiency and Resource Planning in 2009, rose to Executive Vice President in 2011, and was named President in 2011 before assuming his current role in 2014.
David joined the Board of Directors of UNS Energy in 2013. He also joined the FortisBC Board of Directors in 2015 and the Fortis Alberta Board of Directors in 2016. In 2018, David took on additional responsibilities as Executive Vice President of Western Utility Operations for Fortis, Inc.
He chairs the Western Energy Institute’s Board of Directors and serves on the Edison Electric Institute’s Board of Directors and Arizona’s State Energy Advisory Board.
His community involvement includes service on the Southern Arizona Leadership Council, the Tucson Conquistadores and the Salpointe Catholic Education Board of Directors. He also serves as Chairman of Sun Corridor, Inc. and as a Trustee of the University of Arizona Foundation.
Prior to his civilian career, David served as a nuclear submarine officer in the U.S. Navy and worked as an engineer. David earned a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and master’s in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Arizona. He is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
President and Chief Operating Officer
Susan came to TEP as a student engineer in 1994 and was hired as an Energy Management System Engineer in 1997. She advanced through positions of increasing responsibility to become Superintendent of Transmission & Distribution Design/Build in 2004 and Director of Design & Construction Services in 2011. She was named Vice President of Energy Delivery in 2015 and was promoted to her current position in 2019. Susan has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s of business administration from the University of Arizona.
Vice President, Vice President of System Operations and Energy Resources
Erik joined TEP as a Corporate Counsel in 2000 after earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Arizona State University and a juris doctorate from the University of Arizona. He advanced through management positions in Land Resources and Environmental Services and was promoted to Senior Director of Transmission & Environmental Services in 2014. He was promoted to his current position in 2018.
Vice President, Energy Programs and Pricing
Dallas joined TEP in 2004 as Director of Corporate Accounting after serving as Divisional Controller for Citizens Gas & Coke Utility (now Citizens Energy Group) in Indianapolis. He became Director of Rates and Revenue Requirements in 2005 and was later promoted to Senior Director in that role, eventually assuming oversight of areas including new programs and services, customer analytics, renewable energy and energy efficiency programs. He was promoted to Vice President in 2019. Dallas is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University and a master’s of business administration from Anderson University.
Vice President, Energy Delivery
Cynthia joined TEP in 2000 as a Lead Accountant. She transitioned to T&D in 2005, serving as a Supervisor and Project Manager before being promoted to Lead Superintendent in 2013. She rose to Director of Project Delivery in 2014 and was promoted to Senior Director of Operations in 2016. She was promoted to Vice President in January 2020. Cynthia holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona.
Todd C. Hixon
Senior Vice President and General Counsel
Todd joined TEP as a corporate counsel in 1998 after three years in private practice. He rose through leadership positions in the Legal Services Department and served as general counsel for Millennium Energy Holdings, a UNS Energy subsidiary that has overseen unregulated investments. Todd was named Associate General Counsel of UniSource Energy in 2010, and was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel the following year. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture and earned a juris doctorate from the University of Arizona.
Vice President, Special Projects
Mark joined the company in 2008, serving as Senior Director of Generation before being being named Vice President of Energy Resources. Prior to joining TEP, Mark held various leadership positions at PacifiCorp Energy. He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Brigham Young University and a master’s of business administration from the University of Utah. Mark assumed his current role in July 2020.
Frank P. Marino
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Frank became Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2019, having previously served at Vice President and CFO. Before joining TEP in 2013, Frank was a Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the wind and solar businesses of the AES Corporation, a global power company. Frank is a Certified Public Accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York and master’s in business administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Catherine E. Ries
Vice President, Customer and Human Resources
Before joining TEP in 2007, Catherine was Vice President of Human Resources for Clopay Building Products Company, a division of Griffon Corporation. Catherine also spent more than a dozen years in the airline industry, where she specialized in development and training.
She has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master’s in business administration from Arizona State University.
Vice President, Policy Advisor
Jo joined TEP in 2003 as Director of Investor Relations after having previously served in that role at Portland General Electric. She advanced to Director of Regulatory Services in 2011 and was promoted to Senior Director of Regulatory Services and Corporate Communications in 2013.
Jo is a Certified Public Accountant and has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
Since joining the company in 2008, Morgan has held various leadership roles within Information Services. Prior to joining TEP, he led IT departments at two global dot-coms and a regional healthcare provider. Morgan has a bachelor’s degree in information technology from Barry University and a master’s in information technology from Capella University.
Martha B. Pritz
Since joining TEP in 1999, Martha has held various leadership roles in financial planning, treasury services and capital resources before assuming her current role as Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. She previously held positions with Huck International, Inc. and Total Petroleum, Inc. Martha is a CFA charterholder with a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Colorado-Boulder and a master’s in finance from the University of Colorado-Denver.
