UES Invites Nonprofit Groups to Apply for Up to $45,000 in Grants by Aug. 16

Kingman, Ariz. ? UniSource Energy Services (UES) will award up to $45,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations that assist at-risk children, teens, families and seniors.

UES' annual Grants That Make a Difference program will award grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to agency programs that have demonstrated their ability to improve the lives of others. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate their ability to collaborate with other organizations and to leverage resources through programs that produce measureable and reasonable results. Applicants also should be able to demonstrate financial stability and program sustainability.

To be eligible, agencies must have 501(c)(3) charitable status, a record of reliability, fiscal health and must be administering program services in UES' service territory. Schools, churches and governments are eligible to apply for funding when providing social services in collaboration with a 501(c)(3) organization. A committee of UES employee volunteers will evaluate the merits of competing proposals to choose grant recipients. Grants will be awarded in September and October, depending on location.

UES' Grants That Make a Difference program has awarded more than $169,240 since 2005 to charitable organizations throughout Arizona. Grants That Make a Difference is part of the company's award-winning community service program, which provides philanthropic gifts, in-kind services and the donated hours of employee volunteers to nonprofit organizations. Last year, employees of UES joined their friends and family to contribute more than 10,000 volunteer hours to worthy causes in Arizona.
