Volunteer Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in partnering with UniSource Energy Services' corporate volunteer program, the Community Action Team (CAT).

Please review the following guidelines to determine whether your request for volunteer assistance is within the scope of UES resources.

If you believe your volunteer activity meets our guidelines, complete the Request for Volunteers Form, then mail or fax it to your area representative on the UES CAT Steering Committee, which meets monthly. A committee member will respond to your request within one week following the meeting.

If you have questions, contact Community Relations Coordinator Anna Cuņes at 520-884-3741 or acunes@tep.com.

Requests for UES CAT Volunteers

  • Eligible organizations must be tax-exempt under IRS Section 501(c) (3), educational or government.
  • Individuals, travel, or political groups will not be considered for volunteer resources. Employee volunteerism for individual school and church projects may be supported with in kind resources but no grant assistance is available.
  • All requests should be in writing. Please complete the "Request for Volunteers Form."
  • Submit request as early as possible to allow adequate research and planning time. Provide clear, measurable goals; a timetable; and a budget for proposed project.
  • The length and complexity of the project; and the financial and material resources required, will weigh significantly on the UES CAT Steering Committee's decision to accept or decline the request.
  • Organizations that directly enhance the quality of life, add value to the community, and provide essential services in areas of company impact (Coconino, Mohave, Navajo, Santa Cruz, and Yavapai counties service areas) have priority.
  • Special consideration is given to requesting organizations that have a UES employee serving on the board of directors or in a leadership capacity. UES encourages employee volunteerism and community leadership, so agency requests which include a UES contact are accommodated whenever possible.
  • Even when a project meets UES guidelines, an internal UES CAT Project Coordinator must be identified to fulfill the request. If a UES employee does not volunteer to be the Project Coordinator, the request may be declined.
  • Only volunteer activities that can be accommodated during off-work hours are considered. Services provided to agencies during regular work hours are considered corporate in-kind contributions, not volunteerism, and will be approved/evaluated by Community Relations staff.
  • Organization agrees to recognize the UES CAT volunteers' contribution of time and talent in a newsletter or by letter.
