The UES SunShare program subsidizes the installation of solar electric generating systems linked to UES’s local distribution system, or grid. That connection gives customers a chance to bank excess power to UES if they are not using all the energy their system generated. |
UES will pay the owner of a qualified solar electric generating system up to $3,000 per Manufacturer’s rated DC kW at Standard Test Conditions (“STC”) of qualifying, proven, installed solar generating capacity for all systems installed and operational within 180 days after UES accepts the owner’s application.
Subsidy payments are capped at 120 kW DC of installed solar capacity per year for 2007 and 2008. Once the maximum solar capacity is reached in a given calendar year, UES will apply subsequent applications to the reservation quota for the following year.
Customers may also qualify for federal and state tax benefits up to $3,000 to further reduce the initial cost of the system. Click here for a copy of the Arizona Department of Revenue's brochure detailing solar energy tax benefits (.pdf format). Talk with a tax professional about the tax incentives available.
ATTENTION -- There's no better time than now to purchase and install a solar electric generating system. Check out these state and federal tax incentives.
